It is a little unsettling because we have become used to projecting our power without any examination of propriety or cost. We need to become more discerning and learn to work with other nations cooperatively to further our goals and aspirations. This article goes on to say that the budget for the military will not lessen but only grow slower.
Perhaps we will be more reluctant to engage in endless ground wars that rely on nation building to achieve any kind of desirable result. It has not worked out good for us. Our defense budget will still be many multiples larger than any other country our combination of countries.
