Why People Riot

London paralyzed by fear, shock as businesses smolder - USATODAY.com

One can't justify the use of destructive tactics and anarchist sympathies but satisfied populations do not do this. In Great Britain, as in the United States, the growing dichotomy between the wealthy and the poor fuels rage. While destruction does not help the situation it is a reflection of sentiment and use of the occasion to assert rebellion.

If you are old enough to recall 1968 in the United States then you may see some similarities and be aware that the people will not long suffer if they have some means of recourse.
